Dysport Treatments in NJ
Dysport™ treatments provide temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Dysport™ is a simple, effective, non-surgical treatment that works by relaxing facial muscles on the forehead, thereby reducing and smoothing away frown lines and wrinkles.
Dysport™ is supported by over a decade of clinical experience. Thousands of treatments have been safely and effectively performed for a variety of conditions ranging from frown lines to axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating under the armpits). Many people find after several Dysport™ treatments that they don’t need another one for a longer period of time because they have “unlearned” the habit of frowning or squinting that originally led to the development of these lines.
What is Dysport?
Dysport is an injectable treatment similar to Botox for the treatment of frown lines and wrinkles such as those that can develop in the forehead and by the eyes. It’s a type of botulinum toxin type A, which, when used as a line and wrinkle treatment, relaxes overactive muscles of the face.
How does Dysport work to reduce lines and wrinkles?
Wrinkles and lines in the face are caused by repeated facial movements and muscle contractions. Dysport treats these moderate to severe facial lines by reducing specific muscle activity. Injection of Dysport into strategic points between the eyebrows temporarily relaxes the muscle contractions that cause the wrinkles and frown lines to occur. The rest of the face is left to move completely naturally, thus preventing any “frozen” appearance.
What is Dysport used for?
Dysport is most frequently used to treat forehead lines and glabellar lines (those creases that can form between the eyes and above the nose – also known as eyebrow furrows or “11” lines)
Additionally, it can be used to reduce or eliminate:
- Crows feet – small lines that form around the eyes>/li>
- Bunny lines – lines that can form horizontally along the sides of the bridge of the nose and across the top of the nose
- Smoker’s lines or lip lines – wrinkles on the upper lip
- Platysma bands – vertical bands of muscle that can show in the neck.
Is Dysport safe?
Dysport has not only been approved by the FDA, but Dysport is approved in 69 countries and has been used with success in a clinical setting for over 25 years. And, 97% of people who have used Dysport say they’d do it again. (Note: As with any medical treatment, side effects can occur. We will go over these with you during your first consultation.)
How long are Dysport treatments and how long do they last?
One treatment with Dysport takes 10 to 20 minutes and should help improve the look of your frown lines or other treated lines for up to 4 months. The improvement starts to become evident in just 2 to 3 days after treatment.
Additional treatments can be done as soon as the effects have faded and these too should last somewhere between 3 to 4 months.
Are Dysport treatments painful?
Dysport injections are administered quickly and with precision and are virtually pain-free.
Will I be able to return to my normal routine after a Dysport treatment?
There is no downtime and no recovery period after Dysport treatment, and you may return to work and other normal daily activities right away. However, you should avoid rubbing the injection site or engaging in any activity or movement that would cause blood to rush to the head for the remainder of the day following your treatment.
How is Dysport different from Botox?
Botox and Dysport are both a type of botulinum toxin type A used to relax the muscles that cause frown lines and other overactive muscles of the face, like forehead lines and crow’s feet.
Both Botox and Dysport have been in clinical use for years and have a high safety profile. Both can be used on other parts of the face and body, and both must be injected every 3-4 months to remain effective.
How expensive are treatments with Dysport?
Dysport is a customized procedure based upon the needs of each individual patient, so the cost will vary from patient to patient. In general, the cost of Dysport is comparable to the cost of similar treatments. Because Dysport is long-lasting, these treatments are quite economical over the long term.
