Ideal Brow Lift Candidates
The best candidates for a brow lift, also called a forehead lift, are patients who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations. Non-smokers are ideal candidates, since smoking reduces skin elasticity and increases the chance of surgical complications. Smokers must quit several weeks before the procedure.
Brow Lift Types
There are several types of brow lift that can be performed based each patient’s needs:
• Coronal Brow Lift – Also called the traditional brow lift, this procedure involves the creation of a single incision behind the natural hairline.
• Pre-Trichial Brow Lift – During this method, an incision is made on the scalp, on or right behind the hairline, in a zigzag pattern. It does not move the hairline backward and can be used to move it forward in some cases. Results often last longer than those of other approaches. It is less invasive and results in a shorter recovery time than a traditional brow lift.
• Midforehead Crease – This is the least-invasive type of forehead lift. During it, tiny incisions are created within natural creases in the forehead. Out of all the brow-lift method available, this one requires the shortest amount of recovery time/downtime.
The Brow Lift Procedure
The forehead lift begins with the administration of anesthesia. Typically, local anesthesia with sedation is used. The type of anesthesia that will be used will be decided during the consultation. Once this has been administered, the patient will be comfortable and ready for a pain-free procedure.
Next, incisions will be created, allowing Dr. Ganchi access to the underlying tissues. Muscle tissues will be adjusted as needed, and excess skin and fat will be removed. Once all tissue adjustments have taken place, incisions will be closed with stitches.
The Brow Lift Recovery Process
Once the brow lift procedure is completed, you might experience some amount of tightness in the operative region. This is normal and will subside in a few days.
You may be able to take a shower with shampoo and soap after a few days; the bandage will need to be removed first.
There may be some discoloration and swelling around the eyes, which will disappear in time. Keep your head elevated at all times during brow lift recovery to assist with reduction of swelling.
Most patients resume normal activities in a couple of weeks. However, intense activities like sports and exercise at the gym will have to be avoided for several weeks. This is because they can cause the blood pressure to go up, which can interfere with the healing process.
The Cost of a Brow Lift
The forehead lift varies in cost. The price of this cosmetic procedure is affected by factors like the anesthesia used and the total surgery time. Additionally, the technique chosen can impact the overall cost.
