Tummy Tuck in New Jersey

Ganchi Plastic Surgery of NJ, NY

Problem - Does midriff bulge, a fat roll or a "spare tire" bother you?

Solution - A tummy tuck can restore your waistline, eliminating embarassing and unhealthy fat deposits and skin.

Would you like to reduce your waist size?
Reducing your waist size and belly fat is not only a matter of your appearance, but also your health. Health researchers have found that a "spare tire" or excess abdominal fat are bad for the health of your heart and vascular system.

You may be a candidate for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) if you have:

  • Excess stomach fat
  • Sagging abdominal skin
  • Protruding belly out of proportion to your shape

Rid yourself of stomach bulges and improve your appearance.
Everyone wants a flat stomach. But with aging, gravity, weight gain or loss, or pregnancy, your stomach can stretch, revealing unsightly bulges, rolls of fat, and a protruding belly. If you have an excess of loose abdominal skin or your abdominal muscles have separated and weakened, a tummy tuck may be right for you. If you have tried dieting and exercising, but still have fat and loose skin around your middle, a tummy tuck can help you:

  • Remove pockets of accumulated fat
  • Restore muscle tone after pregnancy
  • Smooth and tighten loose skin
  • Narrow the waistline
  • Minimize stretch marks, especially in the lower abdomen
  • Tighten abdominal muscles
  • Create a flat, firm stomach

How is a tummy tuck performed?
During our initial consultation with you, based on your body shape and expectations, we will discuss various options to improve your appearance. As part of the examination, we will evaluate your skin tone, degree of loose skin and muscle, and amount of fat. For a tummy tuck in New Jersey New York contact us today.

The surgical options include:

  • Mini-tummy tuck (limited abdominoplasty) - a procedure limited to the skin and fat deposits below the navel. This is performed under anesthesia in an outpatient setting.
  • Full tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) - a procedure on the entire abdomen to tighten muscles and remove excess skin and fat. This may be done in conjunction with liposuction to remove fat from the hips and love handles for a more pleasing overall body contour. This procedure is performed under anesthesia and is usually an outpatient procedure.

Where is the incision made?
While there are several approaches to a tummy tuck, all involve an incision in the lower abdomen in the area below the "bikini line." For a complete tummy tuck, skin is separated from the abdominal wall up to the ribs. Then, underlying muscles and supportive tissues are stitched together, narrowing the waistline and strengthening and flattening the abdominal wall. Excess skin is drawn down and removed, resulting in a flatter, trimmer stomach. We will review different incision options in advance of surgery so you will know what to expect.

What about recovery?
Each patient is unique. Your recovery time will depend upon the total treatment plan. You will have some swelling and bruising, and may experience some discomfort and tightness for the first two weeks. We will prescribe medication to ease your discomfort. Dr. Ganchi uses dissolving stitches so they do not need to be removed. You will wear an abdominal binder to support your muscles while they heal. You will also have drains for several days. We will closely monitor your progress during your recovery.

When can I return to normal activities?
Most of our patients are able to return to work in 2 to 3 weeks. If you were exercising before surgery, you will be in the best condition to recover most rapidly. It will take about 4 weeks to return to all normal activities and exercise. We will work on an individual treatment and recovery plan based on your surgery and needs.

Are there any side effects?
Over the next few weeks, any bruising, swelling or tenderness will subside. You will, however, retain scars that are generally covered by most bathing suits or underpants. These scars will continue to fade over a period of a year, if not longer. For a tummy tuck in New Jersey New York contact us today.

How long will results last?
Unless you gain weight or become pregnant, you should enjoy your taut shapely figure for years to come. Your clothes will fit better and you'll find increased confidence in your appearance. It is important to begin an exercise program to maintain your new look and to increase your health and fitness.
